On June 4, 2024, the Safavi Impact Institute hosted the Sommerfest in Vienna in cooperation with Das Kompetenzzentrum Sicheres Österreich. This event was not only dedicated to supporting Ukrainian women and holding valuable seminars for their professional integration into Austrian society, but also aimed to create an informal and enjoyable atmosphere. The goal was to combine education with celebration, facilitating networking in a relaxed and friendly environment.
The event kicked off with an opening address from Maryana Voronovych, the project and communications manager at the Safavi Impact Institute. The program included exciting presentations tailored to the needs of women who struggle to integrate into Austria.
Ukrainian lawyer Nadiya Lebedynska conducted the first seminar, focusing on Austrian labor law. It provided crucial information on wages, working hours, sick leave, care leave, and other essential aspects of employment contracts in Austria, helping the Ukrainian women understand local labor legislations crucial for entering the labor market.
Following this, business consultant and psychologist Olena Tsysar led a workshop on flexibility and adaptability. She shared insights on the keys to success in the Austrian job market and business culture, drawing from change management and intercultural business strategies. This session was particularly beneficial for women with extensive career backgrounds and education from their home country, now facing challenges in integration and job searching.
The educational sessions were followed by a lively Sommerfest featuring a barbecue, drinks, music, and extensive networking opportunities. This part of the event emphasized socializing and allowed participants to connect with colleagues from various Austrian organizations, thus establishing community support and proffesional network.
